Athletes of the Meet - Marshall

Congratulations to Genevieve Gemond and Ryan Lucas for being named athletes of the meet for our meet against Marshall.

Genevieve earned recognition for two reasons. The first is based on her strong swims in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Despite a long weekend competing both for Madison and at the Dolan Invitational, Genevieve continued to post improving times in all her events. The second reason for athlete of the meet is because of her tenacity and willingness to sacrifice for her teammates. Despite hurting her foot on the blocks earlier in the meet, Genevieve insisted on swimming in her relay to support her teammates. This never-say-die attitude is what makes Genevieve a great teammate and a leader on this team.

Ryan was chosen as athlete of the meet for similar reasons. He also competed in both Madison meets as well as the Dolan Invitational. Despite the heavy work load, Ryan swim a season-best time in the 200 free and was only a half second off his best in the 100 breast. Ryan's hard work and focus on continually improving his stroke serve as a positive example to others on the team.

Honorable mentions also go out to two additional athletes. Anna Miller continues to impress with her consistently-good swims in whatever events she is entered in. Anna is one of the true pleasant surprises so far this season. Megan Craven swam a personal best in the 50 freestyle and then showed her versatility by also performing well in the 500 free.
