Congratulations to James Stephens, John Sturgill and Sidney Miralao for being named athletes of the meet for their performances against TJ.
James earned his recognition by achieving a region-qualifying score of 210.8. Tonight's performance is easily James's best in his four years with Madison. His hard work and dedication continue to excellence paid off tonight as he easily won the dive competition.
John was named athlete of the meet for his strong performances in the 200 IM and 100 breast. John swam personal-best times in both events as well as posting strong splits in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.
Sidney was chosen by the captains because of her season-best times tonight in both the 50 free and 100 fly. More impressive is that Sidney's success came on the same day she set personal-best times in multiple events at Dolans. Despite a long and difficult day Sidney continued to perform at her very best.
There were a number of other athletes who had a great meet tonight who deserve honorable mentions. Calle Biles swam a great anchor leg in the 200 freestyle relay only a few minutes after completing the 500 freestyle. Abraham Zimmerman continues to be a rock for the men's team. His consistently strong swims and positive attitude make a leader among his teammates. Anna Miller continued to set personal bests in every individual event she competes in. While Leah Knight set a personal best in the 100 breast for the second week in a row. Eric Cann's performance in the 100 fly was also exemplary.
