Joseph earned his distinction based on his strong performances in both the 200 IM and the 100 fly. In his first meet for Madison, Joseph posted two personal-best times in his individual events. He also posted strong splits in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays. Joseph is only a freshman but is already making his mark on an already talented team.
Lilly was selected as athlete of the meet because of her positive attitude and strong showing in the 200 medley relay and 200 IM. Lilly's IM time was a full two seconds faster than her personal best. She also provided a strong race in the 100 breaststroke, narrowly finishing third by 0.3 seconds.
There were a number of other athletes that posted performances worthy of honorable mention:
- Anna Sullivan -- Anna started the season with solid performances in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Her two first-place finishes helped establish the tone all night long.
- Darby Galbraith -- Darby started her Madison career with a very strong performance in the 100 fly, posting a time that was less than a second off her personal best.
- Anna Miller -- Anna picked up where she left off last year as one of the team's strongest freestyle sprinters. Her splits in the relays were just off her end-of-season times from last year. She will only continue to get stronger and faster as the season wears on.
- Riley DeLacy -- Riley did a fantastic job of learning from her first race and improving later in the meet. She demonstrated the kind of attitude and openness to coaching that makes her a joy to work with and explains her continued growth over the past two seasons.
- Maddie Grosz -- Maddie posted the second-best individual performance in Madison history on Friday, finishing just one point off of the school record. Maddie continues to build on her All-American consideration season last year as she establishes herself as one of the best divers in the state.
- Sam Duncan -- Sam also posted a strong showing in the dive event on Friday night. Last year's sixth-place finisher in the state showed that he is a real contender for this year's state title by scoring 316.85 points.
- Owen Murphy -- Owen finished his first meet as a Warhawk by making the region cut in the dive event with a score of 212.65 points. Owen is part of a very strong men's diving contingent that gives our team a significant advantage over most teams in the state.
