All rising juniors and seniors interested in being considered for captain next season should download and complete an application and return it to Coach Foos by Friday, February 22 in room 123B. (You may need to log-out of your FCPS Google account to access the file.) Only athletes who complete an application will be considered for captain. Keep in mind that captains are responsible for the whole team and not just swim or dive. Anyone chose as captain should keep in mind their responsibility to work with everyone on the team.
As you put your application together please remember that the coaching staff takes everything you write very seriously. So please be thoughtful in writing out your responses and be as thorough and specific as possible. The more well-thought out a response the more impressive it will be to the coaching staff. We are looking for leaders who know what their role on the team ought to be and how they can make the team even more successful next season. This is an important role so make sure you're ready and willing to take on the responsibilities that come with leadership.
Please also remember that there are always more applicants than captains. While being chosen captain is a high honor all those who apply bear the responsibility of leadership. Leaders lead no matter what their title is. So the coaching staff fully expects that all applicants will not only accept the final decision but will actively work to support those that are ultimately named captain.
