Langley and Oakton Results

Madison enjoyed mixed results in this week's tri-meet against Langley and Oakton. The men fell to Langley by a score of 129 - 176, and lost to Oakton by a score of 124 - 190. At the same time the ladies swept their meets by defeating Langley by a score of 170 - 144 and getting past Oakton by a score of 161-154.

This weekend's meets were particularly exciting given the caliber of talent. Both Langley and Oakton are perennial powerhouses who have contended for state championships the last several years. Defeating both teams is a major step forward for a ladies team looking to assert itself as one of the premier programs in the region. The women won 10 out of 12 events against Langley while taking 9 out of 12 against Oakton.

Tonight's wins featured two new school records as well. The women's 200 medley relay, consisting of Rachael Holp, Anna Keating, Elizabeth Kuhlkin, and Julia Downing broke the old mark set two weeks ago, with a time of 1:48.88. Madeline LaPorte broke her own 100 butterfly record with a time of 0:56.70.

Next opponent: The team will take the next two weeks off for Winter Break before competing again against Yorktown on January 6.
