Thank you to both the men's and women's teams for putting up a spirited effort tonight against McLean. Both teams faced an uphill challenge with many of our top athletes out for the NCAP Invitational. However, both teams had younger athletes who stepped up and took advantage of their opportunities to shine.
The men's team lost by a score of 167.5 to 147.5. The Warhawks won six events to keep the meet close. Individual winners included Aidan Jones (200 freestyle), Benham Cobb (200 IM and 100 fly), Owen Dyson (100 free and 100 back), and Owen Murphy (dive). Both Aidan and Benham's wins came as the result of strong finishes to the wall as both young men won their events by 0.02 seconds each.
The women's team fell to the Highlanders by a score of 196 to 119. With 12 team members out for this week's meet, it was "all hands on deck" -- including 2 relays made up of divers. Individual winners included Emma Wainwright (200 free and 500 free), Natalie Lauer (100 breast) and Maddy Grosz (dive).
A special congratulations also goes out to Coach Brenda for winning this year's annual splash contest. Brenda's reverse jackknife was exquisitely performed and easily overwhelmed the competition.
Next opponent: The team will return to action next Friday at 8:30. Come out to Oak Marr to watch as all our athletes return from club meets to take on Chantilly.
