Sam earned distinction this week after breaking Grayson Campbell's team record in the 6-dive competition. To give some perspective on the magnitude of Sam's accomplishment, it is important to note that Grayson was twice the national high school diver of the year and is currently an All-American diver at the University of Texas. Sam has officially taken his place among some of the very best divers in Virginia history!
Sophia had a break-out performance tonight in the 100 fly. She broke 1:00 for the first time all season and is headed in the right direction as we enter championship season. She also posted one of her strongest splits in the 200 free relay, helping lead the team to a state cut. Sophia also earned a region cut in her 200 IM for the first time this season. She is one of many underclassmen making her mark this season, giving hope for the team's continued success for many years to come.
Congratulations also go out to a number of athletes who earned honorable mention for their performances this week:
- Reagan Duvall -- Regan had the best meet of his career tonight. He was "on" for nearly all of his dives, finishing fourth. Reagan has worked very hard the past 2 years to improve his dives and tonight's performance showed the results.
- Michael Reed -- Michael Reed continued to cut down his time in the 100 fly, setting a new personal best second week in a row!
- Matthew Schlueter -- Matthew set a new personal-best in the 200 IM tonight, as well as swimming the fastest 100 free of his short high school career.
- Joey Eisen -- Joey posted a sub-23 split in the 200 freestyle relay. Despite reporting that the swim "hurt," he helped lead his time to a narrow victory in the event.
- James Rushforth -- James knocked more than 2 seconds off his previous-best 200 free time tonight, swimming a time of 1:57.63.

- Ela Miralao -- Ela had a terrific night tonight in the 100 back, where she dropped nearly 3 seconds from her time just two weeks ago. She also had a season-best time in the 50 free as well.
