Megan earned her award by having one of the best meets of her career. She posted personal-best times in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and the 400 freestyle relay. Megan managed to break the 1-minute barrier twice in the 100 freestyle for the first time in her career.
Garrett was chose as athlete of the meet because of his continued improvement in the 100 butterfly as well as his performance in the 200 IM tonight. Garrett posted a 0:57.46 in the fly, which was over a second faster than his previous best time. He also contributed to wins for the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
There were several other athletes whose performances earned them honorable mention:
- Will Noel -- Will continued his strong season by posting personal-best times in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. He literally gave everything in him for both races. Will continues to take the conference by storm and is one of the most pleasant surprises of the new season.
- Rachel Hughes -- Rachel continued her return to form this year after shoulder troubles during her junior year. Rachel swam a personal-best in the 200 freestyle and was only four seconds off her best in the 500 freestyle.
- Karyss Gordon -- Karyss posted season-best times in both the 100 backstroke and butterfly during the meet. Her times are considerably faster than at tryouts and she is making a strong case for more opportunities in coming meets.
- Greg Duncan -- Greg returned from finishing 7th at World Junior Diving Championships last week to earn first place at the meet tonight. His score of 325.20 puts him behind only Grayson Campbell in Madison history.
- Jonathan Laredo -- Jonathan dropped nearly two full seconds from his 200 IM time in posting a personal-best 2:23.82.
